Enjoy a tour of the idyllic region of Appenzellerland by cable car

Enjoy a lovely excursion to the idyllic region of Eastern Switzerland. This tour will start with a short city tour through the upcoming, trendy district of Zurich west. Via the University and the Museum of Art, we get right into the heart of the Old Town. You will pass the beautiful Limmatquai and the Fraumunster Church, before reaching the Lake of Zurich.

There will be a great shopping opportunity at the outlet-shop of the famous Lindt & Sprungili Chocolate Factory. The journey then takes you to Rapperswil, which is well-known for its medieval castle, before you reach the picturesque village of Appenzell.

In the town on Appenzell, you will take a guided walk through the small town with its lovely, old, painted houses. You will have about one hour of free time to discover the town at your leisure! The pedestrian zone with its beautiful facades allows an opportunity for strolling and shopping.

After a short drive to Brulisau, an aerial cable car will take you to the top of Mountain Hoher Kasten (1800 m/6000 ft) where you will experience breathtaking views over the green and hilly Appenzellerland, the Rhine Valley and the Vorarlberg (Austria). You will also be able to visit the new revolving restaurant.

On the way back to Zurich, you will visit the cheese factory at Stein, where the famous Appenzeller cheese is made!

Summary:

48 HOURS MINIMUM ADVANCE BOOKING REQUIRED. This tour does not include a hotel pickup or drop-off. A minimum number of passengers is required for the tour to depart. Rates are per person, in US dollars. Child rates apply to ages 6 through 16. Children ages 5 and under are free when sitting on an adult's lap. Reserve online, or call 800-816-3490 for reservations or more information. There is a $5.95 USD processing fee per order. This is a flat fee regardless of the number of tickets or tours purchased on an order.
There is a service charge per ticket. This charge will be reflected on your summary before you checkout. The total shown includes any and all taxes, fuel surcharges, and service fees. There are no additional charges, unless otherwise specified.

Cancellation Policy: There are no refunds. All sales are final.

Change Fee Policy: If changes are allowed on a tour or activity, a $20.00 per reservation change fee will be applied for any change to a reservation. Please note that some tours and activities do not allow any changes. Date changes can be made only if we can confirm availability on the new date. While we cannot guarantee any changes can be made, all change requests must be submitted a minimum of 24 hours prior to the tour departure and must be handled on an individual basis through our Reservations Center.

Meals, optional tours, gratuities and parking fees are not included
Warm clothes, sunglasses and a pair of solid shoes are recommended
Vehicles are not wheelchair accessible

IMPORTANT:

Mountain transportation (cable cars, cog wheel railways, etc.) may close down on very short notice due to weather conditions or forecasts. If news of the closing is received before the motorcoach leaves Zurich, guests may choose to postpone to a different day, change to another mountain tour (if available), change to the Lucerne City Tour with a refund of the difference in price, or choose to not take the tour and receive a full refund. If news of the closing is received after the motorcoach has left Zurich, guests may either switch to another mountain tour (if available) or change to the Lucerne City Tour with a refund of the difference in price.
